Zenith Trans-Oceanic 8G005YTZ1

The front of the 'blackest TO of all' ;-) a lot of work to do

Just arrived is a Trans-Oceanic belonging to the first post WW2-series, and the last series with loctal tubes. Between 1946 and 1949 more than 100.000 Trans-Oceanics were build. In the initial version they had an octal rectifier tube, but this changed with the first revision when Zenith started to use miniature tubes.

The 8G005TZ1 I got is for sure a restoration project, but due to other projects this is delayed for the moment.

This radio was produced in 1948 in a total of about 42.000.

The Zenith Trans-Oceanic 8G005TZ1 tube complement consists of 7 loctal tubes and 1 miniature tube:

1LN5 R.F.
1LA6 Converter
1LN5 I.F.
1LD5 Detector Amplifier
1LE3 Inverter
2 x 1LB4 Power Amplifier
117Z3 Rectifier

Chassis is 8C40TZ1.

This is the schematic for the 8C40TZ1: 8C40TZ1_schema  (117k .gif)
